St Ambrose is well known for being 'keeper of the bees'. He once had the title the 'honey tongued doctor'. This was because of his speaking ability. This led to the use of beehives and bees as his symbols and he had nothing directly to with the bees. He also made use of the bee metaphor in some of his writings.
